I hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Geneva (January 2026)
and I am currently a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics.
My research lies in theoretical syntax, with a specialization in the syntax of Semitic languages.
My work focuses in particular on Tigrinya, a Semitic language spoken in Eritrea and Ethiopia.
I investigate a range of syntactic phenomena, including relative clauses, complement clauses,
adverbial clauses, negation, modality, verum focus, and polar particles.
My name is pronounced [ˈdʒɔ.ja ka.ˈkiɔ:.li ].
